Up To 9,500 Miles Nonstop: Newark’s 10 Brutally Long Flights In 2026

Located in neighboring New Jersey, Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) is a popular choice for passengers looking to travel to New York City without having to deal with the hustle and bustle of the busy John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK). The facility serves as United Airlines’ main East Coast hub, and sees plenty of long-haul international traffic, not just from the US legacy carrier but also from its Star Alliance partners.

This year, the longest non-stop route serving Newark Liberty International Airport clocks in at almost 9,500 miles (15,289 km), and there are several others that, while not quite as long, still push the boundaries of modern commercial aviation operations as we know them today. Let’s dive deeper into the data!

Singapore Airlines Tops The List

The longest non-stop route from Newark in 2026 is also arguably its most famous, and comes in the form of Singapore Airlines’ daily services to and from its main hub at Changi Airport (SIN). According to Cirium, an aviation analytics company, this route is a whopping 9,484 miles (15,263 km) long, and has a scheduled block time of some 19 hours and 10 minutes from Newark and 17 hours and 50 minutes from Singapore Changi Airport.

Singapore Airlines uses the Airbus A350-900ULR on this route, or, rather, a modified version known as the A350-900ULR (Ultra Long Range). These jets are also known for their premium-heavy nature, and they have no economy seats, with aeroLOPA listing just 67 business class flatbeds and 94 premium economy recliners as being on board. At the time of the relaunch of this route (previously served by the A340) in 2018, the airline said:

« The flights will offer our customers the fastest way to travel between the two cities, in great comfort, together with Singapore Airlines’ legendary service, and will help boost connectivity. »

Newark’s second to fifth-longest non-stop routes this year all measure between 7,000 and 8,000 miles, with the longest of these considerable corridors connecting the New Jersey facility with Johannesburg (JNB) in South Africa, some 7,988 miles (12,855 km) away. United Airlines will serve this route almost daily on average in 2026, with 343 departures scheduled for this year, and all of these services use the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

United Airlines’ Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners also ply the third-longest non-stop route from Newark Liberty International Airport this year, with its destination once again being located in South Africa. This 7,816-mile (12,579 km) corridor serves Cape Town (CPT) between 12 and 18 times a month in 2026. As reported by Simple Flying in 2024, United Airlines is the top US carrier when it comes to flights to and from South Africa.

The fourth and fifth spots on this list are occupied by Indian destinations, with the most distant of these being Mumbai (BOM), at 7,806 miles (12,563 km) from Newark. This route is served 12 to 14 times a month by Air India’s Boeing 777-300ERs, while this carrier’s Airbus A350-900s compete with daily services operated by United Airlines’ Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners on the 7,323-mile (11,785 km) route from Newark to Delhi (DEL) in fifth place.

Newark’s sixth-longest non-stop route in 2026 is served by Ethiopian Airlines’ Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 Dreamliner widebody twinjets. This corridor is 6,985 miles (11,241 km) long, and will see up to 14 monthly departures. The seventh spot is occupied by United Airlines’ 6,897-mile (11,100 km) route to Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN) in South Korea, a new corridor on which the carrier will make use of the Boeing 787-9.

Dubai International Airport (DXB), meanwhile, is located some 6,861 miles (11,042 km) from Newark, making it the facility’s eighth-longest non-stop route in 2026. Once again, this corridor is served by United Airlines, but not Emirates – the UAE flag carrier does fly to Newark, but via Athens. Tokyo Haneda (HND) ranks ninth, at 6,760 miles (10,879 km) from Newark, while the 10th spot falls to Tokyo Narita (NRT), 6,732 miles (10,834 km) away.
