One of Europe’s most recognisable airlines has celebrated its 250th aircraft arriving this week, which symbolizes the airline’s continued growth across Central and Eastern Europe. A321neo (registration 9H-WMR) is all part of the airline’s ambitious plan to operate a total of 500 aircraft within the next few decades.
WizzAir remains the fastest-growing European airline, and dominates aviation in Central and Eastern Europe. This sustained momentum for the Hungarian carrier depends on new and economical aircraft to offer affordable and convenient air travel for its millions of yearly passengers.
A Milestone In The Airlines’ History
Adding its 250th aircraft for Wizz is a symbol of the carrier’s persistence over the last few decades to provide innovative and convenient travel options for passengers and to make travel more affordable for those across Europe and beyond. Wizz remains dedicated to doubling its fleet to provide more flights at lower prices across Europe and North Africa.
The disciplined growth strategy, and working alongside industry partners, is helping the airline build to its goal of 500 aircraft, and reaching 250 signals the halfway point to this ambitious goal. The airline’s Chief Executive Officer, József Váradi, thanked his wider team, while also sharing his excitement as Wizzair continues to grow:
“This milestone reflects over two decades of bold decisions, relentless innovation, and the passion of thousands of colleagues and partners who share the same vision and believe in making air travel more affordable and accessible for all. It proves that our strategy is working, and our momentum now is stronger than ever. »
250 Aircraft For Wizz
Airbus was alongside Wizz as they celebrated the milestone of 205 aircraft, noting this integral partnership between the European plane maker and the Hungarian airline. Thus far, Wizzair has a backlog of 260 Airbus A320 family of aircraft on order, which is built on he backbone of the highly efficient A321neo.
A recent decision to focus solely on operating the Airbus A321 is part of the airline’s ambition to operate the largest and most fuel-efficient fleets in Europe, as the carrier firmly sets its sights on continued expansion. While the carrier recently shelved its Abu Dhabi and Vienna operations, the carrier is setting up more frequencies from its major hubs.
As the carrier celebrates its 250th aircraft arrival, travelers can also make the most of the airline’s 30% discount being offered on select flights across the Wizzair network for travel between December to 26 March 2026. These fares are already on sale via the airline’s website or app.

Design Our Livery
As part of the celebration, earlier this year, Wizz set out to find a lucky artist to help design the livery for the 250th aircraft. The airline called on someone to design their own livery, which would sit alongside the traditional white, pink, and blue design. The design needed to include the number 250 and include additional creative elements that fit with the overall branding.
The branding was set to be on the tail and fuselage, but not on engines and wings, and was to be proportionate to the size of the Airbus A321 aircraft. The design was due to the carrier in September, and the winner was to receive Wizzair vouchers up to the value of EU €1,000 ($1,159), and eternal bragging rights.
Wizzair has already had some memorable liveries that have flown, including the celebration of 100 Airbus aircraft, and Team Hungary, which supported the Hungarian athletes that represented the Eastern European country at the Olympics, or the 20th Anniversary Livery, which featured interwoven leaves and a touch of green to celebrate the 20-year partnership between Airbus and Wizzair. The airline also has sub-airline liveries, which usually have a darker colour of blue for Wizzair UK, while Wizz Air Malta uses a white palette.
According to ch-aviation, Wizzair currently operates a mixture of Airbus A320-200, A320neo, A321-200, A321neo, and Airbus A321XLR aircraft. The latter long-haul capable aircraft enabled the carrier to launch medium-haul routes between
London Gatwick Airport to Jeddah and Medina, and Milan Malpensa to Abu Dhabi.
